Reducing unwanted post
If you want to reduce the amount of junk mail which is delivered through your letterbox, then register with the Mailing Preference Service and ask for your name and home address to be removed from direct mailing lists.
Your details can be removed from up to 95 per cent of direct mail lists - it takes about four months from the date of registration to become effective.
You can register by calling 0845 703 4599 or by visiting the Mailing Preference Service.
You could also:
- Contact the sender and request that you no longer receive mailings from them.
- When completing forms, make sure your name won't be added to mailing lists.
- Opt out of the edited version of the electoral register when the voter registration form is delivered.
- Use online billing and stop receiving paper statements from utility suppliers.
