All clothes and home textiles can be recycled
Last year in Surrey, more than 10,000 tonnes of clothes and home textiles were thrown away which could have been recycled or used again. Anything from trousers, socks, sheets, towels, pairs of shoes and bags can be recycled - it doesn't matter if they're torn or tatty as long as they are clean and dry.
Find out how you can:
- recycle your old clothes and home textiles where you live
- arrange a collection and raise money for a local charity or community group
- swap, repair or upcycle your clothes.
Helping you to recycle more
There is also advice online on how to compost at home, which plastics can be recycled, and how you can reduce your food waste and use your food waste caddy. You can also find out about the Surrey Green Network - our volunteers who help you to throw less away.
